I am pleased to see that such a great number of students from all over Japan have come together at the Nippon Budokan for the 32nd All Japan Children's Aikido Jamboree. During this basic Rensei (training) please carefully observe the technique and movement of the instructors and practice diligently and vigorously in this large dojo. | Impression of 32nd Children's Aikido Training Meet: ?½@-- After making the pledge for fair play" by Takumi AOKI ?½@It has been approximately eight years since I started Aikido. I was familiar with the All Japan Children?½fs Aikido Jamboree because I had often participated before. But this year, I was very surprised to learn that I had been entrusted to make the pledge for fair play. I never dreamed that I would be chosen from all of Japan. I am not good at appearing in public, so I became tense after I heard the request. I had few chances to practice with Ms. Okawa who also took part, so I really worried that I might fail in the actual performance. After the rehearsal, guided by the Honbu-shihans, I felt a little better. But when the Jamboree started, my nervousness reached its peak, my heart almost burst. When I stood in front of the microphone, I my entire body was trembling. And then, I started to make the pledge for fair play. Thanks to the rehearsal, I was able to accomplish it without failure. I am convinced that the opportunity I had to make the pledge for fair play was a once in a lifetime chance and is an irreplaceable memory. It was an honor to make the pledge representing over 2000 athletes. I would like to take full advantage of this experience and continue to diligently practice Aikido. ?½@-- Vigorously with maximum energy" by Akiko OKAWA ?½@I have been practising Aikido since I was in the first grade of elementary school and this is my forth time to participate in the All Japan Aikido Children?½fs Jamboree. I was unexpectedly chosen to recite the oath "a pledge for fair play". I wondered if I was good enough. I thought it was impossible for me to play such a big part. Then I asked the reason for the selection, and the answer was that I was a ?½gvigorous Junior High student?½h. My parents and teachers helped my practice. I decided to recite the oath vigorously and with maximum energy since I received support and help from many people. I am not good at appearing in public and my heart kept beating uncontrollably during the pledge. I regret that I was not able to do my best because of too much nervous tension. I am very honored to have made the pledge as a representative of the DOI Dojo and I would like to continue to practice Aikido diligently. |
